Hey there, my wise friends and thank you so much for joining me here on Collective Wisdom this week as we're nearing the end of Pride Month, a time for celebrating difference and diversity. I have with me Shaun Dellenty, for what is a very personal and powerful conversation. James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits is often asked what's the most important habit to establish? And his answer is always the same. It's who we spend time with. Studies show we become like the people we are with the most. The energy of the people around you affects you. When someone is beaming enthusiasm, kindness, and creativity it's quite literally medicine for your body and soul. Perhaps you've even had a conversation or shared a story with someone that has completely changed your life. For me, Shaun Dellenty is one of those people, twice named on the independent on Sundays pink list of the 100 most influential LGBT plus people in the UK. Also in 2020 he was listed as one of the top 100 Global Diversity figures in public life on the Guardian’s global diversity list, alongside names such as Barack Obama, Jacinda Ardern and Kamala Harris.
As well as being a voice, a role model and an advocate for the LGBT plus community. Sean is also the author and facilitator of inclusion for the programme he wrote in response to the need he saw for better training for educational professionals, whilst he was the head teacher of primary school in southern UK. It's a programme he has gone on to deliver extensively throughout the UK. I really can't thank him enough for the tireless work he's doing to change attitudes and to make life more bearable for those in the LGBTQ+ community who so often encountered prejudice and discrimination for simply being who they are.
