Hey there, my wise friends and a warm warm welcome to episode 54 of Collective Wisdom, which comes to you on March 8th, which is International Women's Day. And this week is all about giving. I'm here with my wonderful friend Mandell Conway. Anyone who's a regular listener to the show may remember his incredible story. Back in episode 36, of losing his beautiful mother Brenda, who was tragically killed in the Twin Tower attacks when Mandell was only 13 years old. Mandell has somehow been able to embrace that huge loss and keep the spirit of his mum alive with his generous approach to life. To me, it would be so understandable if Mandell had never been able to move on from the sense of pain and loss that he suffered, and perhaps even a deep and bitter resentment of the people who were responsible. And yet what he's done is move into a state of deep appreciation and gratitude for the time that he did have with his wonderful mom. As you'll hear, Mandell is now leaning into what it means to 10 X that appreciation with his new initiative, 'Giving is like......'
Showing us how when you give, you get the real gift.
So, it's a real pleasure to dedicate this episode to an International Woman, Brenda Conway, and the light that she continues to put out into the world through her son. And the other amazing International Woman I want to give a special mention to on this very important day is my own mum, Sheila Glass, who celebrated her 76th Birthday yesterday. Sheila has been supporting her local community in more ways than you could ever count as a pharmacist, a school governor, a parish councillor and by running a charity shop in her village of Ramsbury that has raised more than £100,000 over the past ten years just by recycling and redistributing other people's cast offs. Two equally amazing women to pay tribute to today.
